Population censuses in Germany

The 1910 Population Census

1910

The last census before World War I was held on 1 December 1910. At the time, 64.9 million people lived in the German Empire, 60 percent of them in cities. This had still been different in 1875: at that time, the urban population accounted for only 39 percent. This shows that the population censuses also document the social change towards an industrialised society.
