Population censuses in Germany
1919
The first census after World War I was of a provisional nature as the situation had not yet stabilised again. It turned out that about 61 million people lived within the frontiers of 1919. Those figures reflected the consequences of war: the share of men in the population had fallen to 47.6 percent from 49.3 percent in 1910.
